when i log in after the launcher loads, i put in my account info.
the game then proceeds to show me a bunch of loading bars, but after that the screen just stays black.
am i doing something wrong? just just impatient?

How long do you wait before you shut it down? I had a GeForce2 MX 100 vid card with 64MB of RAM and it would take up to four minutes to load the character screen. I can't imagine you have anything less than that.
not the game just shuts down after the launcher closes
I had that Issue on my laptop for a while.. I even reformatted (not for that issue, but it was part of it) Even after the format it didnt work So...
I downloaded the client.rar file , then the updater, Installed it. Still, just the launcher-login - crash no error.
Turns out, i didnt have my video card drivers installed, (didnt find out till i tried to install a different game for my mom) But i put in updated drivers and it all fired up fine.
Try the drivers, and let us know.

You should also make sure you have direct x 9 installed! Windows vista/7 do not come with it.
I think DirectX 11 is backwards compatible with DirectX 10, which I think is backwards compatible with DirectX 9...
I think too much. Give it a try. If DirectX 11 doesn't work, try getting DirectX 9. =p
I did nothing with Windows 7 mine works fine with out direct x
Do you see a ClientLog.txt in your Endless Ages folder? If you do, take a look at it - it might give us a hint to where the problem is.
Also, make sure you're using a game login and not a forum login. You can register for a game account through the link in the launcher.
If some of you dont have a new launcher ask jason and he will make u an account!
Account Management or Account Registration is included in the NEW launcher.
No, you always need to install the newest libraries for direct x 9, even if you have dx 10/11. Big issue with a lot of games, but most of them include the dx9 redistributable in their installer dvd. As such, it is likely that many games already have the libraries.

I think I'm having similar problems.
When I fire up the launcher, everything seems right, except once i put in account details and then press enter/next to continue into the game, the launcher closes, and nothing else will reopen. I tried installing directx 9, but that hasnt made much of a difference..
Dont press enter!, CLICK Next, ive tested it, u can login and press enter all week, it just closes the launcher.
Make sure your video drivers are up to date.

well, that solved that then! haha.. now if i could just work out why i cant see mobs in newbie area, i'd be all set...
damn man, all new years spent trying to fix this lol, 1/2 a bottle of black label later and still broken
after installing and un installing, about 5 times
i have discovered that even on the black screen after a few very short blue loading bars
the game is still using about 50% of the cpu according to tsk manager.
so i'm wondering if the game is still loading or installing or anything even tho the screen is sold black.
