im curious too to know what exactly is going on and happening to ea
The game has moved into completely closed testing until such a time when the whole community can help support the game and not just 4 or 5 select players.
Those who have helped support it will be given access to our new closed server. Everyone else, the forums are here for you to chat. Due to lack of funding this last time I was forced to cancel a trip id been looking forward to for a very long time, and had already paid for. The game can not survive with this lack of support.
Feel free to discuss, flame whatever, it will not change our decision. Do not expect to see ea online until we are completely ready for our live launch.
Jason, you know jsut as well as I do that everyone here would give up all of their extra money to help Ea. But, it comes to the point where some of us cannot afford to fork out to help at this time.
I really hope Endless Ages gets on the right path, and it saddens me to see it come to this. I hope a better way can be found, but I trust that you'll do the right thing.

Also, it went from everything's ok, fine, dandy to the game's down in 2 days.
Infact, last server bill thread was 2 weeks ago.
How i know this? Cuz i'm still waiting for my first paycheck which is either today or tommorow,..
oh well,.. 2 bad.
its impossible for anentire community to support a game due to the fact not everyone makes enough money for extra to spend on things

if there isnt enough people to manage the game's hosting costs what we need is.. advertising
in every single mmo forum or games forum..
i cant handle photoshop but i heard we have a new concept artist
just gimme the banner and ill go spread the word
thats my way of helping i hope
btw im very new to this game... and i realy liked the single week i played it![]()
lol dude ive spammed the EA site on every game i play, all over xbox live ,its in my friggin xbox motto, lol
NLB - We Poop On Kids
Ea is not good enough to spam yet. There are too many problems, and having the servers closed makes it to where new people will not come and help as well.
Ea needs a player base more than anything to get things going. Without it, EA will stay in the same state it is...

If half the people donated 5 bucks a month we would have no issues paying the server bills. Its just come to the point now where we would rather put our money into developing the game into something playable then to pay for hosting a game no one supports.
But like I said, those who have helped out up til now will be granted access. Everyone else who wants to get in on the action will have to pay up or wait a few months to see the updates were doing.
I know a lot of people will be unhappy about this but all the devs agree this is the best plan of action - there is no benefit development wise for us to be paying for a public test server.
Well, I am sorry if my previous posts on this topic were out of line but I feel like Majin Roe -- all this up and down is just heartbreaking. And I really feel for people like him who have gone to such extraordinary lengths to ensure we have a server to keep the game online for everyone and now nobody can play. That is bull****.
I know we have a group of youngsters and people in school who don't have a regular income or other reliable source of money to help, but anyone can devote a few hours on the weekend once a month doing odd jobs to make a few bucks. It's only $5 for crying out loud.
This whole idea that EA needs to be free to attract new people to help pay is not working. There are too many who hang around for months and never pay a dime. You've had your trial period and you've built up your chars with 15 armor, 16 guns and 18 orbs. Its time to pay your way...and if you can't do that then enjoy the forums.
Oh yea, don't start with the "you have to fix the bugs before I pay" excuses. People like Telos and others are devoting a lot of unpaid time to fixing bugs, it's not right to be a slacker and rely on other people's efforts and good will so you can get a free ride.

Well I completely understand, though I had hoped with more communication we would have been able to raise enough money to make it work. I'm glad to see you're not giving up on EA completely though. As a college student I don't have much in terms of extra cash, but I would like to pay to play once I get a job if possible. If you haven't figured out the baseline cost for being able to play, then please post it when you do. In the meantime, I guess I go job hunting.
Well bottom line is that it sucks that it has come to this. But taking time to develop and make improvements to EA is a good idea. Its much easier to support a game that we have nothing to complain about. So i support this move and hope i can make some donations to help.

there is no such thing as a game that no one complains about.
Alright...im out!
If the game is gonna be closed im out for sure..I can already tell its gonna be another 3 months til this game is actually playable than another 4-5 to get it fixed...Normally one week altogether![]()

At least something positive has come out of this situation.
I'm not sitting Indian style, I'm a grown ass man.
well if EA has to hibernate inorder to survive DO IT.....im still going to try and see if i cant get extra work so i dont have to worry about bouncing something if i donate to EA...
...and acer....im not sure ur situation is but i know that most of USA is kinda strapped for cash.......just becouse a few ppl are good doesn't mean the rest are and just greedy.....in fact some can make the argument that because they pay so much to keep EA on their trying to buy it for themselves....a greedy action.....(No im not saying there greedy i applaud there efforts to let everyone else enjoy EA, just saying how it can be taken)

Not sure where you got the "one week" statistic, but I'm sure the issues involved would take a company the size of Blizzard (not Blizzard though, they'd just mess everything up and make it point and click PvP) at least a month, and they have a butt ton of people working there.
Wants your lovin', wants your revenge.
gd, my situation is not all that great, trust me. I had to sacrifice some things to make the contribution I did.
About that "greedy" argument--you might want to check the dictionary on that one. My only point is that anyone can come up with $5/month, and had everyone been doing so we would not be in down time now.
I sincerely hope EA is opened up to all who want to play as soon as possible because, obviously, the more the better![]()

How do you donate money to the server?
So has anyone else noticed that at least 500$ or so has been raised for EA, but the paid server has only been up for about a month and new HDDs aren't particularly expensive (though most donations were made after the fact)? For a project so small you can't hide financial issues behind a brick wall of "there are fees". Transparency is needed to keep an already small community from losing faith.
EDIT: Note that I don't have hardcore facts, but I know at least 2 people donated well over 100$ each, and I'm sure quite a few paid 25$ for their old accounts. And pretty much everyone with the "VIP/Donor" title (16 people who don't have special tags/isn't oogie who didn't donate) donated money, or one would expect as that was the purpose of said title. Regardless, if even half those people put in 25$, that's 200$.
EDIT2: Don't take this as a "whine whine whine you suck more whining" kind of post, it's a request for transparency beyond saying "There's [insert fee here] that needs to be paid for [insert amount here]" at random places in the forums. Not necessarily saying you have to photocopy all the bills and put em up, but have a page dedicated to listing _ALL_ the fees and _ALL_ the donations in an easy to read fashion. There's no personal information given and we know what the heck's going on. Everyone's happy.

Wants your lovin', wants your revenge.
Saimoon is paying for the development as I'd be aware. I believe he's the new co-owner and would be the finance man like Brandon was last time.
Also donations were for the server costs alone.
Wants your lovin', wants your revenge.
Nobody is drawing a salary or any compensation. At least they're not supposed to be...according to what the owner says. Blank is right, and with each passing day we hear nothing about what is going on, that faith and confidence is only further eroded.
It leaves people with no choice but to come to the same conclusion Choob did a few posts above. I'm not gonna sweat the $25 I donated, it's not that big of a deal. But I do feel like Majin Roe, it's heartbreaking to see this happen.

That's not a joke...here's a joke:
A man sat down at a bar and told the bartender, "I bet you three hundred dollars that I can **** into the cup all the way over there on the other side of the bar and not miss a single drop."
The bartender said, "There is no way you can do that. Sure, I'll bet you three hundred dollars."
The man then begins to undo his pants and begins ****ing. He starts ****ing all over the bar, spraying on the bottles and the bartender, not making a single drop in the cup.
The bartender starts smiling and laughing and says, "That's it, you owe me three hundred dollars."
The man then gets up and walks over to the pool table and starts laughing and shaking hands with the men standing there. He walks back to bar, sits down and starts laughing at the bartender and hands him the money.
The bartender asks, "Why are you laughing? You just lost the bet."
The man said, "I'm laughing because I bet those guys over there one thousand dollars that I could **** all over you and your bar and you would still be laughing when I was done."

Keep it on topic guys. I agree that there needs to be some transparency.
"If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions." Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson)
How is this not on topic? It's all about donations and the server bill.
I'll make a separate thread in a bit though since you asked. Or ask blegh to move my posts if he can.
Wants your lovin', wants your revenge.
On topic? I'm getting slightly purturbed with all this nonsense. I could be hosting EA right now on my other computer...and so can a lot of other people. I'm supposed to have access to the "closed server" but I don't hear jack **** from anybody.
Way to ruin the ****in' game people.
BTW, Sam, you have nothing to contribute. You pop in and say the thread is going in circles and then wander off. Chicken**** drive-by antics.
Youth is wasted on the young.
--George Bernard Shaw
On that note, does anyone have access to this "closed server?"
nope lmao how can they fund a private server if they couldnt keep it up before? XD
NLB - We Poop On Kids
Well I suppose they could be paying for a server that will only support a few people as opposed to everyone, and that may cost less. But I'm not sure, I think they feel like they're being taken advantage of so they're stikcing with those who can truly support the game until it's ready.
You can set your home PC up as the game server if you really wanted people to play...for free.

I wonder... everyone familiar with the 'folding at home' program?
where instead of a supercomputer being used for intense calculations... millions of computers world-wide, when idle, run a program to do the calculations sent to it by the server... all the computers around the world(as part of the program) do a little bit of calculations each, acting as one giant supercomputer...
if only we could do the same, but as all our computers acting as one big server.
Ace you couldnt host EA on your computer it jsut wouldnt work
