Thread: Server Status.

We are working on setting up the Game server so that Jason can host it directly and reduce the hosting cost while we work through Beta. Its going to take a little time. Rest assured we will get it back up for beta access as soon as possible.

All the financial suport poeple provided (including myself) was put to good use and we have the data from the softlayer server. There were expsenses over and above the monthly fee that were owed for network troubbleshooting and other things that Softlayer had provided. Without making that final payment the current data state for everyone would have been lost. I want you guys to know that i personally paid the entire balance that was due. (I also personally talked to the softlayer folks and they are indeed a difficult and demanding bunch of people) I want you to know that so you understand that i am very much invlolved and interested in seeng EA succeed beyond what anyone has previously thought possible. Especially where Community support is concerned.

I will be assisting with server administration and upkeep directly with Jason and Telos in case they are not available to handle any emergencys that come up. I will also be available on the forums and eventually in game daily if possible. We appriciate and need all of you to make the game thrive the way it should.

I'll keep you guys posted as things develope.

Hellbinder I'm sure the entire community is grateful to you for all your contributions. You've gone the extra mile for our game and that is to be admired.

However, (isn't there always a "however") EA and the people who've run it have a long history of bungling things up. There are tons of people who would support the game financially if not for the all the mismanagement over the years. These people have simply lost confidence and you can't blame them. When their concerns were brought to the attention of managment they were labled as "conspiracy theorists" and their posts were deleted or the thread was closed. This has to stop.

It's the older players and vets of EA like yourself and Snow who keep this thing alive, not the few who happen to find it from some internet search or a link on some game review site. Adding new content like a frog gun will not bring new players anymore than bringing back spikey armor for blobs increased the player base.

And it doesn't matter what data SoftLayer had on that server. Anything that was critical should have been saved and backed-upped independetly of the server. User data would have been wiped at the time of live launch anyway, all these beta accounts mean nothing in the long run.

The important thing is to get the game on some kind of server so that the people who want to play have some kind of continuity and stability, not all this retarded crap about about maintenance fees and late fees and blah blah blah. People don't care about all that, they just want to play.

Actually you are not quite right on that. Only certain items will not carry over post beta. Also, You dont understand that they had completely cut off access to everything. While it might not have been a very long period for data loss indeed every player is important and every players experience in the game is imoprtant and thats the way i intend to view things.

It is definitly true that we can do things better, but it is also true that without commited people like Jason, Telos and others this game would be a footnote in history and that is all.

You should consider that this game has never in its history had a Community Manager before. As we show consistency and a new commitment to Customer Service I hope to contribute to winning everyone back and bring in new players. Personally i would like to see this game have an active population of a few thousand and need multiple servers.

I ment no disrespect. without people like oogie, especially oogie and caustic this game would have been toast.

There is a difference. I will have powers and capabilities far beyond those of mortal men. Other than someone with kryptonite.

And Costomer Service is just as important in beta with a closed server as it will be when we have a public server. I believe that in time you will see the difference. Even when caustic was around there were times when days would go by with no answer to questions and the mobs down and other things. I have been around a long time and have seen much over the years.

There are rare circumstances where something like that may happen i suppose, but i am commited to making events like that a thing of the past. I intend to take care of the community to the best of my ability and that includes you my friend.

ok but what customers are you servicing may i ask? this is being run off donations noones buying anything, also what particular powers, and does justin(MR) not count to you?

What does Customer service mean to you Torn?

Would it make more sense to you if I said Serve the Player Base?

It would mean stating the truth and keeping people informed without blatantly stringing them along and keeping EVERYONE happy, and lemme tell you, one person cant do that

Well not without a machete to cut through all the webs that've been made at least.

Also I recall going days (weeks maybe) without getting any information what so ever much more recently than just Caustic (and his job, was in fact, Community Manager even if he wasn't missing).

Knowing what kind of powers you have would be nice, too (as torn asked previously, to which he got no response). We know the devs have all powerful semi god powers and GMs are basically lowest rank angels I guess that can help people in need and enforce most things, but were exactly do you land on the scale?

Guys i totally get it. I spent a lot of time on your side of the fence which is why i am so excited about the opportunity i have now. (maybe a little to excited)

From my perspective you all have every right to feel the way you do.

I want to point out that Without Jason's Commitment to going down this new road It would not be happening. He is really the one to thank for giving a go at More Transparency and Having an "Official" Community Manager to help provide answers and as much immediate service and response as possible.

The answer to the above question was in the original post. I will have direct access to the server at all times unless there is a real network outage. this will be in Beta and when the game goes live. There are other differences that Jason will be the one to share when he feels the time is right as i do not feel its my place.

I am Not a Dev. I am a Community Manager and something like an Assistant Administrator lackey boy for Jason Directly.

(in my mind and heart the community will always come first, you guys and gals are my priority)

It's really great to know that the community will be kept up-to-date and I'm sure your the right person for the job.
