It's obvious that elements just can't go back the way they where but also that the current system leaves many guns useless because they don't have the old benefits of elements. My suggestion is to create a certain "tier" system for elements.
basically it goes like this
tier-1 = Normal
tier-2 = Fire -> Earth - > Water
tier-3 = Relic -> Rune -> Death
fire beats earth and water beats fire ect. but Relic (on tier-3) beats all on tier-2 and tier-1.
any other suggestions for elements?
(btw - I'm using a similar system on illinc)
